He loved this area: Attersee was a second home to the Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt. The poetically beautiful landscape inspired the master of the Viennese Art Nouveau exquisitely. The most famous paintings from this era are “Unterach am Attersee” and “Weg im Park von Schloss Kammer” – one of the reasons that these paintings are so famous is that they were among the works that were stolen by the Nazis, and which were subsequently returned to their rightful owners by the Austrian government.
